A seminar on drugs and counterterrorism was held in Jamaica


New York, on February 17. Speakers at the seminar, hosted by the Khalil Biryani Party Hall, highlighted the adverse effects of drug addiction on family, religious, cultural, and social values. The seminar was jointly organized by community leaders Nasir Khan Pol, Syed Al Amin Russell, Ahsan Habib, and Ahnaf Alim, sponsored by real estate investors Anwar Hossain and Nurul Azim.

The speakers emphasized that everyone is busy pursuing their own goals nowadays, neglecting to spend quality time with their families. This lack of attention can lead to gradual exposure of children to negative influences, ultimately resulting in drug addiction and the erosion of family, religious, cultural, and social values.

They also presented statistics showing that in the past four years, 84 people in the United States have died from drug addiction, with 42 deaths occurring in New York alone. Among them, several were Bengalis, though societal stigma often prevents acknowledgment of drug addiction as the cause of death, attributing it instead to
