A shooting incident occurred at Perry High School in Dallas County, Iowa, on Thursday morning (January 4).

The incident of the shooting has been confirmed by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. The FBI is also present at the scene. However, the police have not provided detailed information about the deceased and injured.

After the winter break, students returned to school on Thursday. Perry Community School District has about 1,785 students.

Eyewitnesses report that the first gunshot was heard around 7:40 a.m. Parents were seen crying with students at the school gate.

The injured have been admitted to the local MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. A spokesperson for the hospital confirmed the incident. However, the hospital authorities have not provided information about how many people have been injured.

Linda Andorf, board president of the Perry Community School District, condemned the shooting incident, calling it “very frightening and despicable.”

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has expressed sorrow over the shooting incident at the school. It is said that he will attend a rally in Perry on Thursday afternoon. In a post on the social media platform Exe, he said, “Pray for the victims of the shooting in Perry.”
