U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Aidan Alexander, a U.S.-Israeli citizen detained in Gaza, will be released very soon. He stated that Aidan is expected to be freed “within two hours, or by the end of the day.”
Speaking at a press briefing, Trump said, “I am very pleased to announce that Aidan Alexander — an American citizen whom many believed to be dead just days ago — is now about to be released. Within just two hours.”
He credited U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff for the breakthrough. “Steve Witkoff has done an incredible job, and Aidan Alexander’s release is going to happen right in front of him,” Trump added.
He later reiterated, “It could be within two hours, or sometime today — let’s say by today.”
Uncertainty has long surrounded the fate of several foreign hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. News of Aidan Alexander’s potential release has brought relief to his family and human rights advocates in the U.S.
