Tensions between India and Pakistan have reached a new height. The Indian Army has claimed that multiple military installations in India were targeted in an attempted attack by drones and missiles launched from Pakistan, but the attacks were successfully interceptedsuccessfully intercepted

Meanwhile, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has issued a strong warning to Islamabad, stating that any further military action by Pakistan will be considered an act of escalation, for which Pakistan will bear full responsibility.

Details of the Attack and India's Defense Response

In a statement, India’s Ministry of Defence said that between the nights of May 7 and 8, Pakistan attempted to strike Indian military installations in Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj using drones and missiles.

However, due to the efficiency of India’s integrated air defense systems and unmanned aerial system (UAS) countermeasures, these attacks were effectively thwarted.

Debris from drones and missiles has been recovered from multiple locations, which Indian authorities claim as evidence of the Pakistani offensive.

Success of Operation Sindoor

In response to the attack, a high-level all-party meeting was held in Delhi on Thursday, May 8, where the success of Operation Sindoor and the current security situation were discussed. Top government officials, military leaders, and opposition party members attended the meeting.

Operation Sindoor was initiated as a strategic countermeasure to repel Pakistan’s aggression.

India’s Warning and Message of Peace

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri firmly stated:

“Islamabad will be held directly responsible for any attack on Indian territory.”
He added,
“India favors peaceful coexistence but will make no compromise when it comes to national security.”

He further emphasized that India will deliver a “proportionate and doubled response” to any threat to its sovereignty.

Indian Air Force Wing Commander Viyomika stated:

“If Pakistan exercises military restraint, India too will adhere to its policy of avoiding escalation.”

In the current context, the security situation in South Asia is evolving rapidly. While Pakistan continues its offensive attempts, India is strategically countering and responding. As a result, regional tensions are on the rise, and the international community is closely monitoring the unfolding events.
