Tehran, May 4, 2025 — According to a report by Mehr News Agency, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, stated that the Hajj congregation is beneficial for humanity and that nothing is more valuable for the Islamic Ummah than unity.
He made these remarks on Sunday during a meeting in Tehran with Iranian officials involved in organizing this year's Hajj pilgrimage, held at the Hosseiniyah of the late Imam Khomeini (RA). This annual meeting takes place during the Hajj season, where the Supreme Leader gives guidance to pilgrims and organizers.
In his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the recent tragic incident at the Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas, expressing deep condolences to the families of the deceased and injured.
He said, “The problems caused by this accident will be swiftly addressed through the capabilities and goodwill of our young, energetic, and skilled executive institutions.”
In another part of his address, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized the significance of the annual Hajj gathering, which brings together Muslims of various races, ethnicities, and cultures from around the world.
He stated, “Hajj is a unique religious obligation in terms of its form and structure, and it possesses a political dimension.”
He further added, “Hajj serves the welfare of humanity, and the greatest benefit for the Islamic Ummah is unity.”
“If the Islamic Ummah had been united, the tragedies in Palestine and Gaza would not have occurred, and Yemen would not be under such pressure,” he remarked.
It is noteworthy that Gaza has become the target of a devastating Israeli assault, which began in October 2023. So far, nearly 53,000 people have been killed, and the region has been completely destroyed.
