Tension Escalates in Dhaka as Student Protests Intensify; Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Announces Nine-Point Demand on Quota Reform
The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, which is demanding reforms in the government job quota system, has presented a nine-point list of demands to the government. One of the key coordinators of the movement, Abdul Kader, shared this with journalists on Friday night.
He stated that some of the coordinators are currently unreachable. Those who were contacted held a meeting and finalized the nine demands. The time and location of the meeting were not disclosed.
The demands are as follows:

The Prime Minister must publicly apologize to the nation for the killing of students.

The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges and the Home Minister must resign from their ministries and their party positions, taking responsibility for the killings.

The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and the Superintendent of Police (SP) of the districts where student killings occurred must be dismissed.

The Vice-Chancellors and Proctors of Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, Jahangirnagar University, and Barishal University must resign.

Compensation must be provided to the families of the deceased and injured students.

Police personnel and ruling party thugs accused of student killings must be arrested and murder cases filed against them.

Partisan, loyalty-based student politics must be banned and student unions must be reactivated.

All educational institutions and dormitories must be reopened immediately.

It must be ensured that no student participating in the movement faces academic or administrative harassment.
Coordinator Abdul Kader added, “Many of our coordinators have been abducted and are being used in media trials. The shutdown program will continue until our demands are met.”
