The political party BNP held a protest rally and procession in Dhaka to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and to condemn Israeli attacks and killings in Gaza and Rafah.
On Thursday afternoon, BNP organized a rally in front of its central office in Naya Paltan.
Following the rally, a procession marched through various streets and ended at Sonargaon intersection.
Mirza Abbas, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, said at the rally:
"We will stand by the Palestinians. If we do not take effective steps, and if the United Nations does not take action, the Israeli oppression will continue."
Another standing committee member, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, accused the Bangladesh government of remaining silent on the Palestine issue.
"We have a government in this country... whatever you call it, why haven’t we heard any voice from the government about the Palestinians?" he asked.
BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed blamed the situation in Palestine on an "Indo-American conspiracy."
The standing committee member said:
"Because of the Indo-American conspiracy, the Palestinian people have been subjected to genocide and oppression for decades after decades. We see no remedy for it."
