Dhaka, March 25, 2025 (Tuesday): The Bangladesh Army has stated that India Today has once again published a false and baseless report regarding a routine meeting held by the Bangladesh Army. The article titled "Bangladesh Army Holds Emergency Meeting Amid Possibility of Coup Against Chief Adviser Mohammad Yunus," published today (March 25, 2025), presents an example of journalistic malpractice, which shows how a once-reputable newspaper has now become a disseminator of misleading information.

The report presents no credible sources or verifiable evidence and the claim of an "impending coup" is entirely false. The article is an outright attempt to spread lies and baseless rumors. It is deeply unfortunate that India Today continues to publish sensationalist and misleading news without a commitment to responsible journalism.

This is not the first time India Today has spread false information about the Bangladesh Army. Earlier, on March 11, 2025, we issued a response debunking similar misleading and factually incorrect reports. The continued propagation of such false and misleading narratives is concerning, indicating a shift in India Today’s editorial practices from reporting facts to generating sensationalism at the cost of truth.

The Bangladesh Army remains steadfast in its commitment to serving the nation and will continue to uphold the principles of democracy and peace. We urge all media outlets, including India Today, to engage in responsible journalism and refrain from publishing unfounded and harmful claims that only serve to create unnecessary divisions and distrust between the peoples of these two great nations.

The Bangladesh Army firmly declares that we will remain vocal against the spread of any false and baseless information and are committed to protecting the peace and security of our country.
