Elon Musk’s Plan Regarding War with China: Completely False and Misleading Information, Says President Donald Trump

A report published by The New York Times claimed that billionaire Elon Musk, a close ally of President Trump, was set to be briefed by the Pentagon on the U.S. military’s plan for a potential war with China. However, U.S. President Donald Trump dismissed this claim on Friday, calling it completely false and misleading, and stating that he had never allowed military plans to be shared with Musk or anyone like him.

Speaking to reporters alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in the Oval Office, Trump said, “I don’t want anyone seeing, anyone looking at a potential war with China. We don’t want to have a potential war with China, but I can tell you, if we did, we are very well prepared for it.”

Referring to Musk’s business interests in China, Trump noted, “You know, Elon has businesses in China, and he might be susceptible to that, but it was such a fake story,” Trump added.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth clarified that Musk did not see any military plans during his visit to the Pentagon.

Hegseth said, “Elon Musk is a patriot. Elon Musk is an innovator. Elon Musk provides a lot of capabilities our government and military rely on, and we’re grateful for that.” He further stated, “That reporting was fake. There were no war plans, no Chinese war plans, no secret plans. That’s not what we were doing at the Pentagon.”

According to a CNN report, Musk arrived at the Pentagon at 9:00 a.m. and left Hegseth’s office at 10:21 a.m.

When asked how the meeting went, Musk replied, “It’s always a great meeting. I’ve been here before, you know,” and he and Hegseth smiled as they walked down the stairs toward the Pentagon entrance. Outside the Pentagon, Musk and Hegseth shook hands, with Musk telling Hegseth, “If there’s anything I can do to be helpful, I’d like to see you.”

The report indicated that during his visit to the Pentagon, Musk discussed military strategies with senior military officials and told Hegseth, “I’d really like us to have a good outcome here.”

The New York Times’ report on Thursday claimed that Musk was going to be briefed on the U.S. military’s plans for a potential conflict with China at the Pentagon. However, Trump dismissed the story, posting late-night on Truth Social that, “China will not even be mentioned or discussed. This is completely false.”

Neither Hegseth nor Musk answered questions about whether China was discussed during their meeting or if it was a classified briefing.
