UK-Bangla Reporters Unit organized a discussion and iftar mahfil
The event was chaired by the organization’s Senior Vice President, MD Sajidur Rahman, and conducted by the organization’s Secretary, journalist Jubayer Ahmed. Matiar Chowdhury, the most senior journalist-researcher of the Bangla media in Britain, spoke as the main speaker at the discussion on Bangladesh’s independence. He stated in his speech, “If Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the Bengali nation, had not been born, Bangladesh would not have gained independence, and we would not have been able to identify ourselves as Bengalis in the world arena. Bangabandhu and Bangladesh are intertwined.”
Furthermore, the speakers emphasized that even after 52 years of independence, we must all unite again under the banner of ’71 against anti-liberation forces and propaganda. Among others, the discussion was attended by the organization’s Founding President, Muhammad Shahed Rahman; Senior Vice President, Jamal Ahmed Khan; Assistant Secretary, Mohammad Saleh Ahmed; Assistant Secretary, Dr. Azizul Ambia; Assistant Treasurer, Mirza Abul Kashem; Event and Facilities Secretary, A. Rahman Ali; former Vice President Barrister Iqbal Hossain; journalists Shah Mostafizur Rahman Belal and Imran Mahmood; poet Foyezur Rahman Foyez; Community Activist Mohammad Suyez Mia; former councilor and poet Shah Sohel Amin; Community Activist Sultan Ahmed; Salman Ahmed Chowdhury; Abdus Sattar; Selim Ahmed; and Hasan Ahmed Pramukh. SKM Ashraful Huda, the organization’s treasurer, conducted the prayers before iftar.
In the said prayers, homage was paid to the father of the nation Bangabandhu, and prayers were offered for the peace of the souls of the 30 lakh martyrs of the Liberation War of ’71, as well as for the welfare of the country and the nation.
