Washington, USA — Five current and former U.S. presidents attended the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter at the Washington National Cathedral. However, a different situation arose when Vice President Kamala Harris shared a photograph on her official social media account, excluding Donald Trump.

The photo was part of Harris’s tribute post, showing President Joe Biden, former Presidents Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama, all standing with their hands over their hearts. The face of former President George Bush was obscured by a large pillar, leading many to question whether this was done intentionally.

This marked the first encounter between Harris and Trump since she lost the bitterly contested 2024 presidential election. However, there were no signs of Trump or his wife Melania Trump in the photograph, as a large pillar blocked their view. In her post, Harris wrote, "President Jimmy Carter loved our country. He lived his faith, served the people, and left the world better than he found it."

Additionally, another photograph shared by the Carter Center also did not feature Trump. In the second row, Clinton, Laura Bush, and Obama were visible, but Trump and his wife Melania were absent. Although other photos at the event showed all five U.S. presidents, it remains unclear why their presence was excluded in this particular shot.

This occurred at a time when a rare display of bipartisanship was evident during Carter's funeral amid deep political divisions in the U.S., with Trump’s former Vice President Mike Pence, who refused to support Trump during the January 6 riots, also in attendance.

Moreover, some prominent figures, such as Karen Pence and Bush, avoided shaking Trump’s hand or seemed to deliberately sidestep him. Former First Lady Michelle Obama was absent from the event.
