Devastating Wildfire in California's Los Angeles: 1,200 Hectares Burned, 30,000 People Sheltered
Los Angeles, January 8, 2025: From Tuesday to Wednesday, a massive wildfire spread across the Pacific Palisades and Pasadena areas in Los Angeles, California, forcing more than 30,000 people to evacuate their homes. The fire spread so rapidly and intensely that many residents, including some Hollywood celebrities, were forced to flee on foot or by car.
These areas, located between the beach towns of Santa Monica and Malibu, are home to many film and music stars. Numerous buildings have been destroyed, and nearly 3,000 acres (1,200 hectares) of land have been scorched.
The fire has been exacerbated by the dry, strong Santa Ana winds, which have worsened the situation, prompting the National Weather Service to issue warnings about further deterioration in fire conditions.
Traffic jams have formed across the areas, with many people abandoning their vehicles and fleeing on foot to safer places. Many residents became alarmed when they saw flames around their homes.
Local officials from Pacific Palisades and Pasadena have reported that the fire's spread and damage may increase further. Local firefighters and rescue teams are working tirelessly to bring the situation under control.
