Seoul, January 7 – Behind barbed wire and guarded by personal security forces, impeached South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol remained holed up in his hillside mansion on Tuesday with his wife, dogs, and cats, as investigators prepared for his arrest.
Following his declaration of martial law on December 3, Parliament decided to impeach and suspend him. Since then, Yoon has been in hiding at his official residence in Hannam-dong, an upscale district known as Korea's 'Beverly Hills,' popular among business tycoons and celebrities.
Since his impeachment, Yoon has made few public appearances. Law enforcement and investigators are preparing for his potential arrest.
