SEOUL, January 6: South Korean investigators will seek an extension of the arrest warrant for impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol. Meanwhile, despite the political turmoil in South Korea, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed full confidence in his South Korean ally's democratic process.

Yoon Suk Yeol has been accused of declaring martial law on December 3. However, last Friday, the arrest warrant against him was not enforced, as the president's security forces formed a human chain to prevent access.

Blinken stated that the United States expressed "strong concern" regarding the South Korean government's actions, but the country's response was "consistent with the rule of law." Yoon Suk Yeol's lawyers have claimed that the arrest warrant is illegal.
