Washington, January 4: U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson was reelected on Friday by a very narrow margin, highlighting potential divisions within President-elect Donald Trump's Republicans on Capitol Hill.
Initially, Johnson did not secure the required number of votes to retain his position, but after lengthy negotiations, two Republican opponents switched their votes to support him. He was reelected with 218 votes, the minimum number needed for the Speaker's position.
Trump's support was instrumental in Johnson's reelection, but divisions and disputes among Republicans have become apparent.
