Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has broken Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's 35-year-old record to set a new record for the most minutes played in NBA history. On Thursday, during his team's 113-100 victory over the Sacramento Kings, he completed his 57,447th minute.

Abdul-Jabbar, who was a six-time NBA champion and six-time Most Valuable Player (MVP), ended his career in 1989 after playing 57,446 minutes.

At the time of breaking the record, James, who will turn 40 later this month, completed his new milestone 10 minutes into the game against the Sacramento Kings. This is the same team he made his NBA debut against in 2003 with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
