"I Am Ready to Meet Anytime If President Trump Wants" - Russian President Putin The world’s two most powerful leaders, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, have often been at odds due to the longstanding tensions between the United States and Russia. Despite these conflicts, Russian President Vladimir Putin has made it clear that he is willing to meet with Trump at any time, should the former U.S. President desire.
At his year-end press conference, when asked by an American journalist about the possibility of a meeting with Trump, Putin stated that he is always ready for a conversation or a meeting with the U.S. leader.
“I am definitely ready for this [dialogue]. And at any time. I am also ready for a meeting, if he wants,” Putin said.
During Trump’s previous term, he was seen to have a cordial relationship with Putin. Even before his recent bid for the presidency, Trump has often spoken favorably about Russia and its leader. There have also been allegations that Trump had phone conversations with Putin. Therefore, it is widely assumed that if Trump becomes president again, he will sit down with the Russian leader. The pressing question is when this meeting will take place.
Putin, however, could not provide any definite answer to this question. He stated that he does not know when he would meet Trump and noted that they had not spoken in over four years.
“First of all, I don’t know when we will meet. Because he hasn’t said anything about it. I haven’t spoken with him for more than four years,” Putin said.
Earlier, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, echoed Putin’s remarks, saying that Moscow is ready to engage with Washington to resolve the Ukraine crisis but has not received any proposals from Trump’s team yet.
