Tehran, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to bolstering cooperation with China and Russia to counter what he described as the United States' unilateral and authoritarian policies on the international stage. The remarks came during a meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing in Tehran, according to Tasnim News.
President Pezeshkian emphasized the need to advance Iran-China relations into a strategic domain, citing their longstanding and friendly partnership. "The U.S. pursues unilateral and autocratic policies in international affairs. We are determined to enhance our cooperation with Russia and China to resist such measures," Pezeshkian stated.
The Iranian President also highlighted efforts to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Agreement between Iran and China. Referring to his discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan this October, Pezeshkian noted, “We reached constructive agreements, and your visit to Tehran underscores China's commitment to following through on these understandings.”
Vice Premier Zhang conveyed President Xi Jinping’s warm greetings and well wishes to Pezeshkian. Calling Iran a key strategic partner, Zhang said, “Iran plays an effective and constructive role on the global stage. Strengthening this partnership remains a priority for China.”
He further added that China values Tehran's cooperation, especially in opposing unilateralism through international organizations. "Beijing is committed to building and sustaining a strategic, long-term relationship with Iran," Zhang affirmed.
The meeting marks a significant step in fortifying Iran-China ties, aligning both nations against common geopolitical challenges while advancing shared economic and strategic interests.
