Israeli Authorities Force Palestinian Families to Demolish Their Own Homes in Occupied Al-Quds
In a recent development, Israeli authorities have issued directives compelling Palestinian families to demolish their own homes in the occupied Al-Quds region. According to reports, these orders come with severe penalties for non-compliance, including the threat of heavy fines and the forced demolition of their homes by Israeli forces. Approximately 200 Palestinian families residing in the old neighborhoods surrounding the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s first Qibla, have received these coercive notices. The Israeli authorities have systematically denied permits for home development to Palestinians in the Al-Quds region, rejecting nearly all applications submitted by Palestinians.
Since 1967, Israeli forces have demolished more than 5,000 Palestinian homes in East Al-Quds, citing the lack of proper permits. Palestinian sources describe these actions as part of a broader strategy of intimidation and the “Judaization” of Al-Quds. The Al-Quds municipality has even charged the costs of demolition to the Palestinian owners of the destroyed homes.
This escalation follows the controversial recognition of Al-Quds as the capital of Israel by former US President Donald Trump on December 6, 2017. Since then, there has been an intensified effort by Israel to expand illegal Jewish settlements and demolish Palestinian homes in the area.
