[Moscow, 24 July 2025] — A passenger aircraft carrying nearly 50 people has gone missing in Russia’s Far East, regional governor Vassily Orlov announced on Thursday.

According to the local emergency ministry, the An-24 model aircraft, operated by Siberia-based airline Angara, disappeared from radar shortly before landing in the town of Tynda, located in the Amur region near the Chinese border.

Governor Orlov stated,

“There were 43 passengers on board, including five children, and six crew members.”
He added that all necessary emergency units and equipment have been deployed to search for the aircraft.

However, Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the actual number of people on board may have been slightly lower, estimating around 40 passengers based on preliminary data.

As of now, no wreckage or signal has been located, and search and rescue operations are ongoing.
