Trump Announces White House Ban on CNN, MS NOW and Politico
President Donald Trump said Friday that he was banning CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House, accusing the news organizations of repeatedly publishing what he called “fake news.”
In a social media post, Trump announced the ban and later defended the decision while speaking to reporters in the Oval Office. He said coverage by CNN and MS NOW was “fake” and accused Politico of publishing false stories about him. Trump also suggested that other news organizations could face similar restrictions.
Trump did not provide details on how the ban would be implemented. As of Friday afternoon, journalists from the three organizations were still present on White House grounds, with no immediate signs that they were being removed.
The move raises questions about press access and First Amendment protections for the news media. Trump’s administration has previously clashed with news organizations, with some disputes reaching the courts.
CNN condemned the move, saying it stands behind its White House team and its “fair and accurate reporting.”
