Reform UK Receives £72 Million in Donations in Two Days

Britain’s Reform UK party has received a total of £72 million in donations within 48 hours, providing a major financial boost to the party as it prepares for the next general election.

The latest donation, worth £36 million, came from cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne, one of Reform UK’s largest donors. His contribution matched a record £36 million donation announced a day earlier by fellow cryptocurrency entrepreneur Ben Delo.

According to Reuters, Harborne confirmed his donation in an article published by The Telegraph on Saturday. He said he had previously been donating about £1 million a month to Reform UK, but decided to match Delo’s contribution after learning about the record donation.

Harborne said his decision was motivated partly by his competitive spirit. He also expressed strong support for Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and the party’s political agenda.

In his article, Harborne argued that a strong country depends on a vigorous economy capable of creating jobs. He said he believed Farage and Reform UK understood what was needed to put Britain “back on the right track.”

The scale of the donations is significant for Reform UK as the party seeks to expand its political influence ahead of the next general election. The additional funding could provide greater resources for campaigning, party organisation and voter outreach.

The donations also highlight the growing role of wealthy individual contributors in British political financing. Large contributions from a small number of donors can provide political parties with substantial resources, potentially affecting their ability to conduct nationwide campaigns.
