Trump Says Xi Jinping’s “Declining Nation” Remark Was About Biden-Era America

U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Chinese President Xi Jinping was referring to the damage caused during the administration of former President Joe Biden when he described the United States as a “declining nation.” Trump defended his own administration’s record, saying America has now become “the hottest nation anywhere in the world.”

Following his high-profile summit in Beijing, President Donald Trump released a lengthy statement on social media responding to remarks reportedly made by Chinese President Xi Jinping about the United States being a “declining nation.”

Trump argued that Xi’s comments were directed at the years under the Biden administration rather than his current presidency. He accused the previous administration of damaging the country through open border policies, high taxes, rising crime, controversial social policies, and poor economic management.

The U.S. president praised what he called the “spectacular” first 16 months of his administration, claiming that stock markets and retirement accounts had reached record highs, foreign investment had surged, and the American job market was the strongest in history. Trump also said the United States had restored its military and economic dominance globally.

Trump further stated that Xi Jinping congratulated him on several achievements during their meeting and expressed hope that U.S.-China relations would become “stronger and better than ever before.”

Despite the positive tone, the summit also highlighted serious geopolitical tensions. Xi reportedly warned that mishandling the Taiwan issue could lead to “clashes and even conflicts” between the two superpowers. At the same time, Xi emphasized that China and the United States should act as partners rather than rivals.
