Tears in the West Bank — Another Israeli Raid, More Child Victims
Two Palestinian children were killed and several others injured when Israeli forces carried out a raid in the occupied West Bank early Tuesday morning, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The incident took place in the Jenin refugee camp, one of the most frequently targeted areas during Israel’s ongoing operations in the West Bank. Witnesses reported heavy gunfire and the use of drones during the raid, which also caused significant property damage.
Health officials confirmed that the victims were aged 8 and 12, both struck by live ammunition fired by Israeli troops. Ambulances reportedly faced difficulties reaching the scene due to road blockages imposed by Israeli military vehicles.
The Palestinian Authority strongly condemned the attack, calling it a “new war crime” against children and civilians. “Israel continues to act with complete impunity, violating all international humanitarian laws,” a spokesperson said.
The Israeli military, however, claimed its forces were conducting “counter-terror operations” and came under fire from armed militants during the raid. No Israeli casualties were reported.
Human rights groups, including Defense for Children International – Palestine, have urged the United Nations to intervene and ensure protection for minors living under occupation. According to UN data, more than 150 Palestinian children have been killed in Israeli operations in the West Bank and Gaza so far this year.
