Historic Meeting at the White House: Trump and Netanyahu Face-to-Face – Trump Hopeful to End Gaza War

Washington, Sept 28 (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump has delivered a new message of hope for peace in the Middle East. On Monday, he will meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. The central focus of the meeting will be ending the Gaza war and laying the foundation for a structured peace agreement.

On Sunday, Trump wrote in a social media post:
“We have a real chance for greatness ahead. Everyone is together, something special is about to happen — we will get it done.”
The post was issued while he was riding in his motorcade to his suburban Virginia golf club.

Diplomatic Discussions

Administration officials have said that the White House meeting with Netanyahu is aimed at outlining a framework for a ceasefire and hostage exchange. U.S. Vice President JD Vance told Fox News Sunday that top American officials are engaged in “very complicated” talks with Israeli and Arab leaders.

Vance expressed cautious optimism, saying:
“I feel more optimistic right now than I have at any point in the past few months. But let’s be realistic — these things can fall apart at the very last minute.”

He outlined three main goals of the plan:

  1. Returning all hostages,

  2. Eliminating the Hamas threat to Israel,

  3. Expanding humanitarian aid in Gaza.

“I think we are very close to achieving all three of these objectives,” Vance added.

Peace Plan

During the United Nations General Assembly in New York last week, the United States unveiled a 21-point Middle East peace plan aimed at ending the nearly two-year-long war in Gaza.

According to White House officials, the plan includes:

  • Returning all hostages, both living and deceased,

  • Preventing any further Israeli attacks on Qatar,

  • Launching a new dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians for “peaceful coexistence.”

Trump’s Optimism

On Friday, Trump told reporters that discussions were ongoing with Middle Eastern countries, as well as with Israel and Palestinian Hamas leaders, and would continue as long as necessary.

Trump said:
“This is the first time all parties are coming together. I believe we are about to make history.”
