U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could resolve the conflict with Russia “almost immediately” if he abandoned Kyiv’s claims over Crimea and its aspirations to join NATO.
TAss SAYS, In a statement, Trump remarked, “President Zelensky could end the war with Russia almost immediately if he wanted to, or he can continue fighting. Remember how it all started. During the Obama administration, Crimea went to Russia without a single shot being fired—12 years ago—and Ukraine is not in NATO. Some things never change!!!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The U.S. President also noted that Monday would mark a “big day” for the White House, as never before in history had so many European leaders gathered there simultaneously.
The much-anticipated meeting between Trump and Zelensky is scheduled for August 18 in Washington. Joining Trump at the talks will be French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has also confirmed plans to attend.
