A South Korean court has issued an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk-yeol on charges of attempting to impose martial law on December 3.
According to Yonhap, South Korea’s national news agency, the arrest warrant was issued in the early hours of Thursday. The previous day, Yoon appeared at a Seoul court for a hearing on the arrest request filed by prosecutors.
In April, the Constitutional Court of South Korea removed Yoon from office, ruling that he had abused his power in attempting to declare martial law. Before that, on December 14, Parliament had voted to impeach him, but the final decision required the Constitutional Court’s approval.
