During a press briefing, the U.S. Press Secretary said Washington offered a range of incentives—including lifting sanctions, collaboration on peaceful nuclear energy, and economic cooperation—to encourage Iran to abandon its nuclear weapons ambitions. However, Tehran reportedly rejected the proposals and did not agree to the terms of peace, leading to a collapse of negotiations. 

U.S. officials have maintained that Iran’s pursuit of enriched uranium and refusal to dismantle its enrichment infrastructure threatened regional stability and prompted decisive action. While Iran asserts its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, critics argue Tehran has continuously rebuffed diplomatic efforts, heightening tensions and raising fears of broader conflicl.
