President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States is soon going to hold talks with Iran.

Speaking at a joint press briefing at the White House alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said:
"We've scheduled a meeting with Iran, and they want to talk."

Trump added:
"They requested a meeting… and if we can put something down on paper, that would be good. We'll see what happens."

Trump’s special envoy for Middle East affairs, Steve Witkoff, confirmed:
"This meeting will take place within the next week."

When a journalist asked what kind of situation would lead him to authorize another strike on Iran, Trump replied:
"I hope we won’t have to do that again. I can’t imagine anything like that happening again. I’m sure Iran doesn’t want it either. They want to sit down… they want to work something out."

It’s worth noting that on June 22, U.S. B-2 bombers dropped 14 GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (bunker buster) bombs on Iran’s Fordow and Natanz nuclear sites. At the same time, a large number of Tomahawk cruise missiles were launched from submarines targeting Iran’s Isfahan nuclear facility. This marked a significant U.S. military operation against Iran’s nuclear program.

Previously, the sixth round of U.S.-Iran talks had been scheduled for June 15, but on June 13, Israel launched a massive air assault on Iran’s military, nuclear, and civilian infrastructure. This triggered 12 days of conflict between Iran and Israel, which ended with a U.S.-brokered ceasefire on June 24.

President Trump said:
"Iran is now completely different from what it was two weeks ago."
"I hope this chapter is over. Yes, I believe Iran now wants to come to the table. They want peace, and so do I," he added.

Regarding Syria, Trump stated that, at the request of several Middle Eastern countries, the U.S. has lifted sanctions on the country.
"We've removed the sanctions on Syria because we want to give them a chance," he said.

Trump also mentioned that he intends to lift the harsh and “biting” sanctions on Iran at the right time.
"I really want those sanctions on Iran lifted at the right moment, so they can rebuild—peacefully. So that they no longer chant
