[Jerusalem, June 29, 2025] — Multiple opposition members in Israel’s Knesset have accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of using the ongoing Gaza war as a means to derail or delay the corruption trial against him. They allege that Netanyahu is manipulating critical national issues—such as security and prisoner exchanges—for his own political and legal gain.

Nama Lazimi, a Knesset member from the Democrats Party, told The Times of Israel:

“Netanyahu has tied our future and the future of our children to the outcome of his corruption case. He is making major political decisions, including ending the war, as bargaining tools for resolving the charges against him—this shows he is unfit to remain Prime Minister.”

Another Democrats Party lawmaker, Gilad Kariv, stated:

“Netanyahu’s inner circle is treating national security like a toy in his political survival game. Even the issue of prisoner exchange has been degraded to serve their personal agenda.”

Karin Elharar, Knesset member from the Yesh Atid Party, issued a direct warning:

“By linking prisoner exchange deals and regional normalization efforts to his own legal fate, Netanyahu has sidelined the genuine interests of the Israeli people.”

These explosive allegations come at a time when the future of the Gaza war and the judicial progress of Netanyahu’s corruption trial are at the heart of Israel’s political landscape. Analysts say Netanyahu’s government is strategically weaponizing war and security concerns to prolong political survival, a trend that many believe poses a serious threat to the country’s democratic foundations.
