Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed regret over the Iranian missile strike on a U.S. military base in Qatar. In a phone call with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Pezeshkian stated:

“Neither Qatar nor its people were the target of this attack, and it does not pose a threat to Qatar.”

A statement from the Diwan (Emir’s office) said President Pezeshkian referred to Qatar as a “neighboring, Muslim, and brotherly nation” and expressed hope that the strong bilateral ties, based on mutual respect and understanding, would remain intact.

19 Missiles Launched, 18 Intercepted

On Sunday night, Iran launched 19 missiles at Al Udeid Air Base, the largest U.S. base in western Qatar. According to Qatar’s Ministry of Interior, its defense forces successfully intercepted 18 of the missiles. One missile landed near the base, but no casualties were reported.

IRGC: A Response to U.S. Aggression

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the “devastating missile strike” was a direct response to U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities and a strong message against American military intervention in the Middle East.

During the strike, residents in Doha and nearby areas reported hearing loud explosions and witnessing fireballs in the sky. Qatari authorities confirmed that Al Udeid Air Base had been evacuated in advance due to security concerns.

Qatar Condemns the Attack

The Emir of Qatar issued a “strong condemnation” of the strike, calling it a “clear violation of the country's sovereignty and airspace.” The official statement read:

“This breach contradicts the principles of good neighborliness and fraternal relations, especially since Qatar has consistently supported dialogue and peaceful resolution with Iran.”

Qatar Files Complaint with the United Nations

On Tuesday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs submitted an official complaint to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council. The complaint stated:

“This aggression by the IRGC is not only a threat to Qatar but a direct danger to peace and security across the entire region.”

In a press conference, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman said:

“This attack has left a scar on Doha–Tehran relations, one that will take time to heal.”

Just hours after the strike on Al Udeid Base, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a full ceasefire. However, both nations have since accused each other of violating the ceasefire.
