No casualties in Iranian missile attack on US military base in Qatar — US Department of Defense
[Riyadh, 24 June 2025]
Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Iran fired six ballistic missiles toward the US military base Al-Udeid in Qatar. However, the US Department of Defense, Pentagon, reported that due to Qatar’s successful defense system, no casualties occurred in the attack.
Pentagon statement:
The Pentagon confirmed—
“Iran launched short- and medium-range ballistic missile attacks on Al-Udeid base in Qatar.”
A US defense official said,
“So far, there are no reports of American casualties. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.”
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari said—
“We consider this attack a clear violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, airspace, international law, and the United Nations Charter.”
He added—
“Qatar’s air defense system intercepted and destroyed six missiles mid-air. Due to prior warnings, the base was evacuated, so no one was injured.”
“Qatar reserves the right to respond appropriately to this ‘brazen aggression.’”
Saudi Arabia’s stance
The Saudi government strongly condemned Iran’s attack in a statement, saying—
“This incident is a direct violation of international law and the principles of maintaining good relations with neighboring states. It is completely unacceptable.”
They further stated—
“Saudi Arabia continues its full support for brotherly Qatar. Qatar’s security is our security.”
Analysts believe that in the aftermath of this attack, security cooperation among US-led allied states has intensified.
“The joint response of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United States indicates a growing likelihood of forming a new strategic anti-Iran alliance in the Middle East.”
