"Qatar’s Air Defense System Successfully Repelled Iranian Attack on U.S. Military Base" – Foreign Ministry
Doha, June 23, 2025
Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that its air defense system successfully intercepted the Iranian missile attack on the U.S. air base Al-Udeid, located in Qatar.
In a statement posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari said:
“We consider this attack a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, its airspace, international law, and the Charter of the United Nations.”
He reported that Qatar’s air defense units responded promptly and destroyed all six Iranian missiles mid-air. A precautionary evacuation of the base had already taken place prior to the attack, resulting in no injuries or casualties.
The statement further added:
“All necessary measures were taken to ensure the safety of personnel at the base, including members of the Qatari Armed Forces, allied troops, and other individuals.”
In stronger language, Majed Al-Ansari emphasized:
“Qatar reserves the right to respond appropriately in proportion to the nature and scale of this brazen aggression.”
Through this statement, Qatar has not only highlighted its commitment to international law and defensive capabilities, but also sent a firm message to Tehran regarding the seriousness of the attack.
This response clearly illustrates Qatar’s stance and role amid rising tensions in the Middle East—prioritizing both its own defense and the security of its allied forces.
Given that military personnel from the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries are stationed at Al-Udeid Air Base, this attack is expected to have far-reaching diplomatic repercussions beyond Qatar.
