"To prevent nuclear conflict, Iran must come to the negotiating table" – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer [London, June 22, 2025]
Following the U.S. military strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer issued an emergency statement, declaring that Iran’s nuclear program has become “a serious threat to international security.” He expressed his support for the U.S. actions taken to address that threat.
Starmer said:
"Iran must never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons, and the United States has taken steps to eliminate that threat."
He added:
"The situation in the Middle East is extremely unstable. Preserving stability in the region is our priority. We urge Iran to return to the negotiating table and pursue a peaceful, diplomatic resolution to this crisis."
The British Prime Minister’s statement comes at a time when global diplomatic tensions are at a peak, and security experts fear that Iran’s potential response could further escalate the situation.
The UK government has stated that it is maintaining close communication with NATO and UN member states and is giving top priority to diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing any form of nuclear conflict.
