Protests in Tehran Against Continued Israeli Aggression in the Islamic Republic of Iran — Hundreds of Thousands Rally
Tehran, 20 June 2025
Public opinion in the Islamic Republic of Iran has surged strongly against Israel’s ongoing military aggression. After Friday prayers, hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets of the capital, Tehran, loudly chanting slogans condemning Israel and the United States, while expressing loyalty to the country’s highest leadership.
Footage broadcast live on Iranian state television showed massive crowds chanting patriotic and resistance-themed slogans. Many protesters carried photos of Iranian military commanders killed in Israeli attacks since June 13. Some waved the flags of Iran, Palestine, and Hezbollah. A banner read:
“I will sacrifice my life for my leader” — referring to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Many protesters also voiced concerns about U.S. interference, collectively denouncing Israel’s “terrorist activities” and the “silent support” of Western powers.
State media reported that similar demonstrations took place not only in Tehran but also in cities like Tabriz in the northwest and Shiraz in the south. Local mosques and clerics had called for the protests, delivering messages of trust and unity toward the state.
A television presenter said,
“This Friday marks a day of Iranian national solidarity and resistance, observed throughout the country.”
Analysts note that such mass protests represent more than just public opinion; they send a political message to Israel and Western powers, reflecting the internal strength of the Iranian government. Amid rising tensions, these demonstrations hint at the possibility of an intensification of the conflict in the future.
