Tehran, 20 June 2025
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphatically stated that the war will not end until Israel’s aggression is unconditionally halted. In a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he said,
“The only way to end this imposed war is the unconditional cessation of the enemy’s aggression and the permanent end to the operations of Zionist terrorists.”
He also issued a warning:
“If the aggression continues, our response to the enemies will be even more severe and serious.”
Talks with the U.S. Impossible: Foreign Minister Araghchi
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated this stance. In an interview with the state news agency IRNA, he said,
“The Americans want talks and have already sent several messages. But we have clearly stated — until Israel’s attacks stop, talks are impossible.”
Araghchi added,
“Because the U.S. is a partner in these crimes, we cannot hold any talks with America.”
Talks in Geneva with Europe, U.S. Excluded
Araghchi is scheduled to hold important talks today, Friday, in Geneva with European foreign ministers. Although Western diplomats have indicated that this meeting will focus on nuclear and missile programmes, analysts believe that the shadow of the direct Israel-Iran conflict and the role of the United States will remain present in the discussions.
Since 13 June last week, direct military conflict between Israel and Iran has erupted. Israeli airstrikes have targeted strategic sites in Tehran, Isfahan, and Fordow, causing civilian casualties and sparking nationwide high tensions.
Currently, Iran faces pressure from the West while maintaining a firm stance on military resistance. Despite European leaders’ attempts to negotiate, Iran’s resolute position makes it clear — as long as Israeli aggression continues, no diplomatic agreement is possible.
