Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has strongly condemned Iran following the missile strike on Soroka Medical Center, accusing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei of ordering attacks on Israeli hospitals and residential buildings from the safety of his protected bunker.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also issued a warning in response to the attack, stating that Iran would “pay a heavy price.” On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Netanyahu wrote:

"This morning, the terrorist regime in Iran launched missiles at Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva and at civilians in the heart of our country. We will make the rulers in Tehran pay a heavy price."

In an interview with Israel’s Channel 12 on the same day, Defense Minister Katz stated:

"Khamenei is sitting in his protected bunker while ordering attacks on innocent people. These types of assaults are among the most heinous war crimes against humanity – and Khamenei must be held accountable for these crimes."

He added that he has instructed the Israeli military to intensify attacks on Iran’s strategic targets.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media claimed that Thursday morning’s strike targeted a military and intelligence facility located near the Soroka Hospital. They insisted that the hospital itself was not the direct target.

However, Israeli authorities reported that the impact of the strike has endangered lives in the hospital and nearby residential areas, calling it a clear violation of international humanitarian law.

The incident has further escalated tensions between Israel and Iran, with growing fears of broader conflict. The international community has urged both sides to exercise restraint.
