[New York, June 18, 2025] — Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar has issued a strong warning against Iran in a letter to the United Nations Security Council, accusing Tehran of posing an existential threat to Israel. He declared that Israel will not tolerate any threat to its survival.

In the letter, Sa’ar wrote:
“Iran has crossed all red lines. Its strategic objective is to completely annihilate Israel. Israel can never accept this genocidal threat.”

He claimed that Iran has enriched uranium to weapons-grade levels and has continued to maintain nuclear weapons-capable infrastructure, ignoring international requests and obligations.

Sa’ar further alleged:
“Iran is using diplomatic negotiations merely as a delaying tactic, in order to accelerate its efforts to build nuclear weapons.”

The letter also stated that Iran’s recent progress in its nuclear program and ballistic missile development forced Israel to initiate a military campaign dubbed “Operation Rising Lion.”

In his words:
“Israel had no other choice — we had to act.”

With this statement, Israel is presenting its military actions as acts of self-defense and essential for international security. The letter has sparked renewed debate among UN Security Council members amid rising tensions in West Asia.
