Beijing, June 17, 2025 — Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed deep concern over the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, warning that the tensions could push the entire Middle East into unpredictable chaos. Speaking at a summit in Astana, Kazakhstan, Xi emphasized, “China is ready to play a constructive role in establishing peace.”
According to the state news agency Xinhua, Xi stated, “All parties must act swiftly to de-escalate the conflict. Military confrontation solves nothing—it only creates a threat for the entire international community.”
He strongly criticized Israel’s recent “Operation Rising Lion,” which involved attacks on Iran’s military and nuclear facilities, calling it a violation of international law.
China’s Foreign Ministry announced that, due to the deteriorating situation, Beijing has begun evacuating its citizens from both Iran and Israel. Chinese embassies in those countries have advised their nationals to travel overland to Jordan, Turkey, Armenia, or Turkmenistan instead of using air routes.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned, “This conflict could quickly spiral out of control. Diplomatic dialogue and peaceful resolution initiatives must begin immediately.”
Meanwhile, the G7 summit also issued calls for de-escalation, though the statement did not directly mention a ceasefire between Iran and Israel. Instead, it reiterated Israel’s right to self-defense and delivered a stern warning regarding Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons.
President Donald Trump, who abruptly left the G7 summit and returned to Washington, posted on his social media, “Everyone must evacuate Tehran immediately.” China described this comment as “pouring fuel on the fire.”
According to Chinese diplomatic commentary, nations that hold influence over Israel should now take responsibility and implement effective measures to contain the conflict.
