British ship sunk in Yemen attack

A British cargo ship has sunk in the Red Sea after being hit by a missile attack by Yemen’s armed Houthi rebels. The internationally recognized government of Yemen reported such information on Saturday (March 2). Aljazeera news.

The sunken vessel is named MV Rubimar. It is a United Kingdom owned cargo ship flying the flag of the North American country of Belize. On February 18, the ship was hit by a Houthi missile attack while crossing the Bab al-Mandeb Strait with fertiliser. After being heavily damaged in the attack, the crew members abandoned the ship and evacuated to safety. The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack.

In a statement on Saturday, the emergency department of the Yemeni government in charge of the ship said that the MV Rubimar sank in the sea last night due to bad weather and strong winds.

US and British forces have conducted a joint operation targeting the Houthis to prevent attacks in the Red Sea. In addition to the joint operation, the United States has been attacking various Houthi installations almost every day. However, despite so many attacks, the West is still unable to stop the Houthis.

After the sinking of the ship, the head of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee of the Houthis, Mohammad Ali al-Houthi, said that they believe that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his government are responsible for the sinking of the ship because of their support for the massacre and blockade of Gaza.

In an interview on Saturday night, he said, Sunak has the opportunity to allow aid trucks to enter Gaza and recover the ship of Rubima.
