Democrats Face Sharp Backlash for Supporting ICE-Protest Violence in Los Angeles — Hillary Clinton Under Fire
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is facing intense criticism after referring to the recent anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles as “peaceful protests” and blaming President Donald Trump for “spreading unrest” in Southern California.
Florida Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna responded bluntly:
“These are not peaceful, Hillary.”
The popular conservative X (formerly Twitter) account Libs of TikTok mocked Clinton:
“Comments turned off, LOL! She can’t take the ratio. Hillary Clinton calls this a ‘peaceful protest.’”
The post included footage of destruction in Los Angeles, and pointed out that Clinton had restricted replies to her post to only people she follows.
As of Tuesday morning, Clinton had made only one post about the LA riots, in which she stated:
“California Governor Newsom did not request the National Guard after peaceful protests. Trump sent them anyway. He’s the first president to do so in 60 years. Trump isn’t trying to keep Californians safe — he’s trying to spread chaos. Because chaos helps Trump.”
The post sparked a wave of backlash on social media, with many users accusing Clinton of shutting down dissent by limiting replies and calling on her to “stay quiet.”
John Dennis, chairman of the California Republican Liberty Caucus, commented:
“Notice how it’s always the leftists who turn off comments?”
By Tuesday, users were still unable to directly reply to Clinton’s post but were expressing their reactions through quote posts.
One user tagged Elon Musk, writing:
“Please ensure that someone like a public official and fraudster can’t lock replies. @elonmusk.”
Another wrote:
“Blaming the National Guard for the unrest is a serious accusation. That requires proof. I haven’t seen any.”
Yet another sarcastically remarked:
“If Hillary Clinton is anything, she’s certainly delusional.”
This comment was in response to a video of the riots showing fires burning under the Mexican flag being waved by protesters.
The violence in Los Angeles erupted Friday evening following a U.S. federal immigration enforcement operation. President Trump ordered the action as a response to the ongoing influx of undocumented immigrants — a reversal of President Biden’s approach.
Local leaders, including Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom, publicly condemned the operation and expressed sympathy for immigrants.
