China Must Stop Supplying Fentanyl Precursors to India – FBI Chief Kash Patel
FBI Director Kash Patel has called on the Indian government to help stop the flow of Chinese-made fentanyl precursors (chemical ingredients used to make fentanyl). “I just got off the phone with the Indian government… I told them, we need your help. These substances are entering your country and being trafficked from there, even though India itself does not use fentanyl,” Patel said during an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

India Becoming a Transit Hub
Patel stated that India is increasingly turning into a transit hub for fentanyl precursors, even though it is not a consumer itself. “China is sending these precursors to India, and from there, they are being trafficked to Mexican drug cartels, which then manufacture fentanyl in Mexico,” he said.
China’s Strategic Maneuver
Accusing Chinese suppliers of evading U.S. surveillance, Patel said they are using third countries like India to circumvent detection. “This is part of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) plan,” Patel asserted. “They want to destroy the future generation of our country—people who could have become soldiers, police officers, or teachers.”
He emphasized that fentanyl-related deaths are not being reported in India, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, or even among the Five Eyes allies. “Because the target is solely America,” he added.
Joint Operations with Indian Authorities
Patel revealed that the FBI has already begun joint operations with Indian law enforcement agencies. “We’re going to track down the companies purchasing these precursors and shut them down.”
“We will impose sanctions, make arrests where possible, and prosecute them both in the U.S. and in India,” he said.
According to a Times of India report, several Indian chemical companies have been named in U.S. cases. ‘Vasudha Pharma Chem Ltd.’ has been accused of conspiring to send four metric tons of NPP (a fentanyl precursor) to the United States and Mexico. Charges have also been brought against ‘Raxsure Chemicals’ and ‘Athos Chemicals Pvt. Ltd.’
Personal and Strategic Ties
Patel, the son of a Gujarati immigrant family, noted that his ties to India are not just professional but personal. “India is not the source of the problem, but if action isn’t taken now, it could become one in the future.”
New Smuggling Route Through Canada
Patel also disclosed that Mexican drug cartels are now using Canada to create new smuggling routes. “They’re taking precursors to Vancouver, producing there, and distributing globally—because our southern border has become too difficult to cross,” he said.
China’s Motive Is Not Economic
Patel emphasized that China is not making significant financial gains from this activity. “Their motive is entirely strategic. They haven’t directly targeted the Five Eyes countries yet, but they’re prepared to.”
He pointed out that in 2023, synthetic drug overdoses led to approximately 74,000 deaths in the U.S., calling it a “Tier One national security threat.”
