Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei Kani announced that Iran will soon present a nuclear proposal through Omani mediation and urged the United States not to waste this opportunity.

In a press briefing on Monday, Baghaei Kani stated that the ongoing indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the U.S. have already gone through five rounds, with a sixth round of discussions planned, aiming for a new understanding.

He said, “Differences over uranium enrichment remain the main obstacle between the two countries.” Baghaei further explained, “Just because a country enriches uranium does not necessarily mean it has a military program. Many countries, including U.S. allies, are enriching uranium, yet they do not have military intentions.”

He added, “If deterrence means resisting foreign pressure, then yes — we are in a position to stand against pressures that go beyond international and legal limits.”

Baghaei emphasized that Iran’s uranium enrichment is a strategic necessity for its nuclear industry and is directly tied to national interests. He said, “This domestic technology is the result of years of effort by Iranian scientists and is by no means negotiable.”

He stated that nothing can be disclosed at this moment regarding the sixth round of talks, but once a decision is made, it will be announced.

Baghaei stressed, “Any proposal that fails to protect Iran’s national interests is unacceptable to us. We will soon submit our proposal through Oman.”

Addressing the United States, he said, “They should not waste this opportunity. It is in their own interest to take this proposal seriously.”
