Elon Musk Tries Repeatedly to Call Trump—Gets No Response: “Musk Has Gone Crazy,” Says Trump
Despite expressing interest in speaking with President Donald Trump on the phone, Elon Musk has yet to receive a response. A source told CBS News that Trump remains largely “uninterested” in taking Musk’s call.
Trump: “Musk Has Gone Crazy”
In a Friday morning interview with ABC News, Trump appeared to dismiss Musk altogether. Upon hearing Musk’s name, Trump responded,
“Are you talking about that guy who's lost his mind?”
He added,
“At the moment, I’m not very interested in speaking with him.”
Trump also remarked,
“Musk wants to talk to me, but I’m not ready to speak with him right now.”
He then shifted focus to other issues, including U.S. inflation, foreign investment, and a possible trip to China.
A Somber Trump?
According to those close to Trump, the deterioration in his relationship with Musk has made him less angry and more melancholic. On Thursday night, an advisor said,
“He seemed a bit down.”
A senior official told ABC News that Trump is even considering selling—or donating—the red Tesla he bought as a gesture of support for Musk. Trump had toured several Tesla models at the White House back in March, during Musk’s politically tense visit to Washington.
Escalating Feud: The Backstory—Taxes & Immigration Bill
The feud began when Musk criticized Trump’s tax and immigration policies. Musk claimed that Trump would have lost the 2024 election without his support. He even called for Trump’s impeachment and accused him of being linked to the Epstein files.
On X (formerly Twitter), Musk wrote:
“This is the real reason why those files haven’t been released yet. Have a good day, Donald Trump!”
In response, Trump labeled Musk as “crazy” and threatened to cancel government subsidies and contracts with Musk’s companies.
VP JD Vance Backs Trump
Vice President JD Vance stood firmly with Trump. On X, he posted:
“President Trump has earned the movement’s trust more than anyone in my lifetime. I’m proud to stand with him.”
He also criticized the corporate media for portraying Trump as “impulsive and angry.”
White House Responds
In a statement, the White House said:
“This is an unfortunate episode for Elon Musk, who dislikes a beautiful and historic bill simply because it didn’t include his preferred policies.”
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt noted that the president remains focused on passing historic legislation and making America great again.
Musk Softens His Tone?
Following his intense remarks, Musk appeared to dial things down. When a user from an account with just 141 followers on X advised him to “cool down,” Musk replied:
“Good advice.”
This response effectively walked back his earlier threat to cancel SpaceX’s “Dragon” spacecraft program.
Musk wrote:
“Alright, we’re not canceling Dragon.”
