According to a report by Al Jazeera, the Israeli army's ground offensive in Gaza is becoming increasingly complex the deeper it goes into the territory. Over the past two days, four Israeli soldiers have been reported killed—an escalation that is placing mounting pressure on Israel’s political and military leadership.

On Wednesday morning, the Israeli military officially announced the death of another soldier in the ongoing Gaza conflict. This came just a day after three other soldiers were killed, bringing the total number of fatalities over the two days to four.

This situation arises at a time when Israel is ramping up pressure on Hamas to accept a ceasefire proposal brokered by the United States. As per the proposal put forward by U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff, a temporary 60-day ceasefire is planned.

However, Hamas has stated that it seeks a ceasefire that guarantees long-term peace, not just a temporary 60-day truce. The group fears that hostilities could resume after the ceasefire, potentially weakening its position even further.

Meanwhile, analysts suggest that as the Israeli forces advance deeper into Gaza, they are encountering increasingly fierce resistance. The continued soldier casualties are raising questions about the trajectory of the war and fueling a wave of criticism within Israel's domestic politics.

Amid these developments, local health officials in Gaza reported that at least 18 civilians, including women and children, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a school. Israel claims the school building was being used as a Hamas base, though this assertion has not been independently verified.

In addition, the lives of individuals being held captive in Gaza are becoming increasingly precarious. As the war intensifies, concerns are growing about the safety of the hostages. With Israeli forces advancing and Hamas’s resistance stiffening, the prospects for prisoner exchanges or rescues are becoming increasingly uncertain.

Whether the proposed ceasefire will be implemented remains unclear. Until then, the death toll in Gaza continues to rise — and no one knows when, or how, it will end.
