Iran and Oman Agree to Strengthen Bilateral Ties, Support Ceasefire in Gaza

Tehran, May 28, 2025 – Iran and Oman have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and expressed support for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, according to a joint statement issued following Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s official visit to Muscat.

During the visit, President Pezeshkian and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq emphasized the historic and robust ties between the two nations. The joint statement highlighted the importance of sustainable cooperation, mutual respect between their leaderships, and the need to further develop relations across all sectors.

The Iranian delegation also expressed gratitude to Oman for its mediating role in the indirect nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States.

Leading a high-level delegation, President Pezeshkian arrived in the Omani capital of Muscat on Tuesday afternoon. The main objective of the visit was to engage with top Omani officials to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Upon arrival at Muscat International Airport, President Pezeshkian was received by Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs, and Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Following an official reception ceremony, the Iranian President held a private meeting with Sultan Haitham at Al Alam Palace. The meeting was followed by a joint session attended by senior delegations from both countries, where mutual interests and regional developments were discussed.
