In light of the Conservative Party’s declining popularity, senior party leaders are actively working to bring former Prime Minister Boris Johnson back into politics, according to British newspaper The Sun.

Quoting party leaders, the report says, “A group of Boris Johnson’s old allies have reactivated their networks, are regularly exchanging messages, and are engaged in discussions to facilitate his political comeback.”

A senior Conservative figure revealed that the party headquarters is also exploring the possibility of Johnson’s return. The discussion has gained momentum especially after recent opinion polls showed the party’s popularity has plummeted.

Conservatives Fall in Popularity Polls
According to a YouGov poll published on May 20, the Conservative Party has dropped to fourth place in terms of voter popularity. At the top of the list is Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party, with 29% voter support.

Following Reform UK is the ruling Labour Party with 22%, and in third place are the Liberal Democrats with 17%. Against this backdrop, many view Boris Johnson’s return as a potential solution to the Conservatives’ crisis.

Boris Johnson’s Political Background
It is worth noting that Boris Johnson served as the UK Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative Party from 2019 to 2022. He was forced to resign amid multiple controversies, including breaches of COVID regulations.

Nevertheless, he remains popular among many Conservative supporters, and party leadership is aiming to leverage that support to resolve their current crisis.
