Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has launched a scathing attack on British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, accusing them of effectively seeking to keep Hamas in power.
Netanyahu further claimed that Starmer, Macron, and Carney were siding with “genocidal murderers, rapists, child-killers, and kidnappers,” calling them “against humanity.”
His remarks came following an attack on Israeli embassy staff in Washington. Just days earlier, the UK, France, and Canada had criticized Israel’s expanded military operation in Gaza, labeling it “excessive” and describing the humanitarian situation as “intolerable.”
The Washington attack killed Israeli embassy staffers Yaron Lischinsky (30) and Sarah Lynn Milgrim (26). According to police, the suspect, Elias Rodriguez, shouted “Free Palestine” repeatedly during his arrest.
The UK, France, and Canada—longtime allies of Israel—had firmly stood with the country following the deadly Hamas-led attack on Israel 19 months ago.
In a video message, Netanyahu said Hamas seeks to destroy Israel and annihilate the Jewish people. He claimed Hamas was emboldened by the criticism from the UK, France, and Canada.
“To President Macron, Prime Minister Carney, and Prime Minister Starmer—I say, when genocidal murderers, rapists, child-killers, and kidnappers thank you, know that you are on the wrong side of justice,” Netanyahu stated.
“You are against humanity. You are on the wrong side of history,” he added.
Israeli minister Amichai Chikli also said that Sir Keir and other leaders were “emboldening the forces of terror.”
On Friday, UK Defence Minister Luke Pollard condemned the Washington killings but rejected Netanyahu’s criticism.
He said, “We support Israel’s right to self-defense—as long as it is exercised within the bounds of international humanitarian law. That has been our stance since the horrific attacks of October 7.”
“At the same time, we want real aid to reach the people of Gaza,” he added. Speaking to Franceinfo radio, he said, “Israel must allow aid to enter—access must be wide and unrestricted.”
The resumption of aid comes after a full blockade lasting 11 weeks, which humanitarian organizations have warned could lead to famine. In March, Israel resumed airstrikes, which have so far killed 3,613 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry.
On BBC World Service’s NewsHour program, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert described the current Israeli administration as “a terrorist gang.”
In an interview, he said, “These are a bunch of thugs who are now running Israel, and the leader of this gang is Netanyahu.
“Of course they will criticize me, slander me—I accept that. But I will not stop speaking out against these policies.”
