Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has stated that Israel’s deliberate starvation campaign in Gaza is increasingly isolating it on the world stage.
“Those who fail the Gaza test will be held accountable by history; Turkey stands with humanity and will continue to do so,” Erdoğan said, as quoted by Turkey’s Anadolu Agency.
He further emphasized, “What’s happening in Gaza is not just a humanitarian crisis, but a test of sincerity for the international system – a test that Western institutions have failed.” Erdoğan made these remarks while speaking to journalists on his return from an official visit to Hungary on Thursday.
He reiterated, “Gaza is not merely a humanitarian catastrophe; it is a test of global morality.”
Erdoğan accused Israel of intentionally blocking humanitarian aid to Gaza and warned that such actions are isolating Israel in the international arena and prompting new perspectives in Europe.
“When children are being killed and starved to death, you cannot remain silent,” he said, as quoted by Daily Sabah.
“Europe is finally beginning to wake up to Israel’s actions,” Erdoğan added. “Those who ignore the suffering in Gaza will be held accountable by history.”
The Turkish leader reaffirmed Turkey’s unwavering support for the people of Gaza, stating, “We are on the side of humanity and we have no hesitation in our stance.”
Regarding regional diplomacy, Erdoğan called for the lifting of international sanctions on Syria, stating that such a move would be an important step toward achieving sustainable stability in the Middle East.
He said that this would further solidify Turkey’s constructive diplomatic position in the region.
Additionally, Erdoğan mentioned the possibility of an upcoming visit to the United States and expressed hope for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.
