Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has claimed that India destroyed nine major Pakistani bases in just 22 minutes in retaliation for the terrorist attack on Hindu pilgrims in Pahalgam on April 22. He made this statement during an election rally in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
Praising "Operation Sindoor," Modi said:
"When sindoor (vermilion) turns to gunpowder, even enemies witness the result. On April 22, our sisters’ sindoor was wiped off and bullets were fired after asking their religion. Shots were fired in Pahalgam, but the hearts of 1.4 billion Indians bled. Through the bravery of our soldiers, we have fulfilled our vow."
The Prime Minister explained that "Operation Sindoor" was a coordinated response by India's defense forces against Pakistan-based terrorists and military targets. He added:
"Our government has given full freedom to all three armed forces. They created a strategic formation so powerful that Pakistan was forced to kneel."
Pakistan’s Airbase in 'ICU', But India Remains Unscathed
Modi also stated that Pakistan’s Rahim Yar Khan airbase is now in the “ICU” due to Indian airstrikes, but not a single Indian base was touched thanks to India’s robust air defense systems.
He made it clear:
"India cannot be threatened with nuclear blackmail. If Pakistan sponsors another terrorist attack, its military and economy will pay a heavy price."
Warning on Indus Waters Treaty
Regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, Modi warned:
"The water that belongs to India will not go to Pakistan. Those who play with India’s blood will also be deprived of its water."
India’s Three-Pronged Formula Against Terrorism
Highlighting the significance of "Operation Sindoor," Modi laid out India’s three key anti-terror principles:
-
Any terrorist attack on Indian soil will be met with a strong response. The Indian forces will decide the time, method, and conditions of retaliation.
-
Nuclear threats will not work against India.
-
Governments that support terrorists will be treated the same as terrorists.
The Prime Minister's speech has sparked widespread political debate, especially as tensions continue to escalate along the India-Pakistan border. Analysts believe Modi’s strong stance carries significant diplomatic weight at this critical time.
